Andrew Hargreaves returns to his own Other Ideas imprint under his Beppu guise with debut LP Coercion. Constructed from equal measures of noise, industrial, no wave and techno, Coercion pushes a bleak and often uncompromising sound. The relentless churn of ‘Remote Feedback’ evokes the imagery of a bleak, dystopian landscape with bellowing hammer blows of ‘Obedience Experiment’ conjuring a similarly austere feel. Deeply atmospheric is ‘Agnetic State’, merging breezy synth-noise, scathed percussion and judgment day pads to harrowing effect.
