Bulgarian producer KiNK has over the last few years put out an incredible selection of forward thinking singles and EPs on labels from Rush Hour to Ovum Recordings to Dirtybird, all of which have shown a playful and hardware focused approach to dance music. His debut album on Macro Recordings drives this sound further to make what is his most cohesive and inventive release to date. Recorded from a series of live jams in his hometown of Sofia, its a dense mix of frazzled analogue and supple rhythms bent into unexpected shapes. 'Summa Technologiae' makes this particularly evident, filled out with labyrinthine stutters of machine whirrs and celestial vocals from singer Rachel Row. 'Sintezator' is a track of blunt and stomping house, while 'Povreda' is insistent but lighter in texture. It's a varied set, and one that works as a whole well.
