New York synthsters Nation of Language make their Sub Pop debut with a new LP of brightly-hued electronica entitled Dance Called Memory. A year full of mourning and loss (both personal and otherwise) certainly filters into the mix here, but frontman Ian Richard Devaney writes from a place that both acknowledges the struggle and embraces the emphatic love that centers itself in times of trouble. The band pairs that introspection with some of their most musically rich compositions to date, finding space for widescreen shoegaze guitars, hip-hop inspired drum breaks, and komische style churn in their usual glittery bounce.
