Temporary Residence treats William Basinski’s 2003 modern classical masterpiece Melancholia to a deluxe vinyl re-release. Initially available only via Basinski’s co-owned 2062 imprint, Melancholia sees the New Yorker doing what he does best – creating touching, ageless ambient music from the simplest of constituents. Each of the fourteen tape-loops focuses on solitary smothered piano chords, dredging up the deepest of emotions for a moment of overwhelming beauty.
