Hamburg rave specialists Helena Hauff and F#X reconvene under their Black Sites moniker for R4, the first release from the hardcore duo since 2014. Out on Tresor, this LP sees Black Sites recording direct to tape with almost no post production or overdubs. Moving between harsh electro and acid, Hauff and F#X pay fitting tribute to this aggressive music’s spiritual birthplace in the motor city. Opener ‘C4’ is an apt title and opening salvo for a collection of weapons grade floor detonators, while the practically gleaming ‘3D’ adds some sheen to this darkly-lit affair.
