Los Angeles dweller Seven Davis JR lands on Funkineven’s imprint Apron Records with his P.A.R.T.Y EP. First up the label chief provides his edit of ‘Celebrations’, resulting in a typically dance floor friendly cut where the punchy bass line drifts in and out through apt use of the filter whereas ‘P.A.R.T.Y’ features the catchy, simplistic vocals of Mezmawho. From here, Davis JR moves from the left-field ‘Fun’ with its odd squiggles and rattles to the string-stabs of ‘Summers’ finally landing on the soulful swing of ‘Highways’ – a track that must be lurking in the bags of Kyle Hall and Theo Parrish.
