Static Caravan presents the Further Navigations EP from British folk outfit The Memory Band. Functioning as a continuation of themes from the 2013 LP On The Chalk (Our Navigation Of The Line Of The Downs), The Memory Band turn to Jim Jupp’s The Belbury Poly and Grantby for a pair of interesting reworks in addition to providing one new track themselves. Leading off is Belbury Poly’s rework ‘Hobby Horse’, a take on ‘When I Was on Horseback’ with added electronics, a bouncy synth thread and all the journeying essence of the original. Grantby’s ‘The Ballard Of Imber Down’ is an interpretation of ‘As I Walked Over Salisbury Plain’ yet it is plunged even deeper into a slice of cinematic downtempo with tidal waves of strings, lonely piano chords and spliced West Country dialogue.
