Bulgarian producer Impérieux makes his debut on the Hessle Audio label with a new EP entitled Fena. Taken from the diminutive name his mother called him as a child, it translates roughly to an impish, though light-hearted trouble maker, though its origins in both Turkish and Balkan speaks to the intercontinental sounds contained within. Breaks and synths so sharp they nearly set off sparks in your ears are the game here, but Impérieux threads eastern instrument patches and the sounds of dogs barking (or at the least the approximation of such) into the dancefloor-fillers to keep punters on their toes. A tender tribute to a new friend closes out this excellent opening salvo from a rising talent.
