Talking Heads’ second LP is given a much-deserved 180-gram vinyl reissue. More Songs About Buildings And Food is the Heads’ first collaboration with musical polymath Brian Eno, who would go on to helm their next two albums. Their signature jerky grooves and David Byrne’s spastic song writing are left untouched for the most part, the producer’s presence mostly felt in the crisp drum production, smart sequencing and an overall fuller sound. Galloping opener ‘Thank You For Sending Me An Angel’ does retain some of the fire of Eno’s ‘Needle In The Camel’s Eye’, but zippy numbers like ‘Warning Sign’ and ‘I’m Not In Love’ could only come from Byrne and company. The album’s last two songs, ‘Take Me To The River’ and ‘The Big Country’, showcase the band’s propensity for slinky R&B grooves and Americana.
