Mount Kimbie announce The Sunset Violent – Live in Heidelberg, a powerful live recording captured at Metropolink Festival in Germany, one year on from the release of their acclaimed fourth album, The Sunset Violent. The album documents the sold-out European and US tour that followed their 2024 studio release—an era that saw the duo expand into a dynamic five-piece live band, joined by Andrea Balency-Béarn, Marc Pell, and Tyra Örnberg. Coinciding with this announcement, the live version of ‘Empty And Silent – Live in Heidelberg’ is now available, showcasing the band’s electrifying live energy. The track features lyrics by Archy Marshall (aka King Krule), who also appeared on the studio version of The Sunset Violent. The recording was captured by FOH engineer Ben Ellis, mixed by Dilip Harris, and mastered by Matt Colton.

Paired with a series of live videos from their Roundhouse show, directed by longtime collaborator Duncan Loudon, The Sunset Violent – Live in Heidelberg, captures the band’s visceral, genre-blurring live presence. As Mount Kimbie continue to expand their sonic vocabulary, Live in Heidelberg stands as both a celebration of a landmark year and a bold reaffirmation of their unique space between alternative rock and electronic innovation.

2024’s The Sunset Violent picks up where Mount Kimbie’s last studio album, 2017’s Love What Survives left off, marrying modern indie, shoegaze and electronica seamlessly into another highly unique and forward-thinking LP from one of London’s most seminal contemporary bands. The album was written in California’s Yucca Valley, a scant Western town with a history of alleged UFO sightings before being finished in London. The desert’s surrealistic, auburn-tinged tones and sparse Americana landscape can be heard across each of the album’s nine tracks, marrying perfectly with the album’s abstract storytelling and cutting-edge songwriting to create another classic Mount Kimbie record.
