A joint release between Editions Mego and Tochnit Aleph, Marcus Schmickler and Julian Rohrhuber's Politiken der Frequenz is a striking piece of work. Inspired by Alain Badiou’s Le Nombre et les Nombres, the work sees spoken numbers and samples meet over hissing electronics and buzzing synth work. Reminiscent of the work of Laurie Spiegel and FC Judd, this is where, as the album's title suggests, politics and frequencies collide. With tracks named after mathematical functions as well as abstract concepts, it's not one for mindless listening. Once you get involved, however, it's a deeply rewarding listen.
