Animal Collective's Avey Tare's Slasher Flicks is a new band featuring ex-Dirty Projectors member Angel Deradoorian and ex-Ponytail drummer Jeremy Hyman. Recorded live in the studio using minimal overdubs, each addition from the different musicians creates a dynamic collaborative approach. Tare constructed the bare bones of the songs giving birth to them out of his own surreal psychedelic pop psyche; he then passed the musical skeletons on to Deradoorian who gave them their skin through her unique and otherworldly melodies, while Hyman created the rhythmic form and structure, together breathing life in to a musical Frankenstein, creating a record that is raw and playful yet very ghoulish.
