Tyler, The Creator marks 10 years of his fourth LP Cherry Bomb with this reissue on his own Golf Wang imprint. Released as part of a limited capsule drop with his typically bright and impish merch style, the album remains an integral and wholly unique piece of the LA musician’s oeuvre. A transitional recording from an artist the world literally saw grow up in real time on the internet, Cherry Bomb saw Tyler drift further away from the shock and awe of his earliest work and burrow down deeper into his music nerd impulses. Splashing around with the hallmarks and motifs of jazz, soul, and funk, Tyler uses these tools to splatter candy coloured paint all over the walls, which is to say there’s still plenty of fun-loving juvenilia to be found here when you look between the lines.
