A saxophonist turned synth experimenter, Berlin based artist Thomas Ankersmit has always had one eye focused on electronica. Having mastered the Serge analogue modular synthesizer he’s now produced what may be his masterwork: ‘Figueroa Terrace’, a single 37-minute track that crackles, fizzes, drones, ticks and growls like a soundtrack to life between the big bang and now. Mammoth in scope and abrasiveness, it’s matched only by early Team Doyobi in its ability to pull groundbreaking sounds from dated but capable hardware. One for the audiophiles.
