Theo Parrish steps in to revive the spiritual jazz of A Race Of Angels for the brilliant Wildheart Recordings. The A-side is a gorgeous, luxurious cut, where alternating male and female vocals sit above sensuous but simple drums and piano, giving way to huge swells of warbling strings. Parrish’s B-side treatment though, is no less than astonishing, first layering up the acoustic elements into a mucky soup, before adding a gorgeous funk line which abruptly gives the cut a startling different energy and groove.
