Sandra Electronics originally formed in 1988 by Downwards head Karl O’Connor aka Regis and has now come to include Juan Mendez (Silent Servant). Here, Minimal Wave compile some of the earliest works and a number of rare demos and live versions. Functioning as a galvanizing concoction of primitive electronic instrumentation and hypnotising rhythm ‘Want Need’ shows this duo at their most visceral. ‘It Slipped Her Mind’ pushes savage guitar chords up to a hypnotic, percussive mantra whereas ‘New Purpose’ sucks you in with its industrial drawl.
