LA producer Mono/Poly makes his debut on the freshly minted NAYMLIS label with a new LP entitled Moonlight To Sunlight. A longtime member of the city’s cutting-edge beat scene as well as a Brainfeeder associate, Mono/Poly steps out on his own here, connecting the various threads of his musical output to this point in favour of a tremendous artistic statement. Jazz, hip-hop, soul, house, and electronica are all run through the filter here rendering everything in a gauzy psychedelic haze without excising the beating heart at its center. In fact, tracks like ‘IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT’ layer field recordings of crickets and rustling wind underneath to highlight the humanity of these sounds.
