Berlin-based artist John Cohen aka Dead Fader readies Blood Forest for Robot Elephant Records. Here, Cohen draws inspiration from neoclassical composition set against textured, synth-driven melodies. The progressive ‘Emclod’ gets things underway, flowing with unpolished melodies that evoke the heady electronic journeys of Klaus Schulze, however following pieces ‘In Cover’ and ‘Tap’ deal in chunkier beats with frayed edges. On ‘Drown’ we're exposed to a softer sound with its delicate, beat-less drift whilst the hypnotic broken beats of title track ‘Blood Forest’ show off another side to this multi-faceted producer.
