French bassist Charles-Eric Charrier lands on the DIY-driven, Manchester-based label Gizeh Records with the Petite Soeur EP. Throughout the piece, Charrier sews the stitches between numerous different genres from the bluesy, live improvisational feel of ‘Petite Soeur’ to the classical folk strings of ‘No Closed To Be’ and African poly-rhythmic drums of ‘8 minutes’. A range of instrumentation is put to work on the jam-like ‘Toumimi Tataye’ where the balance and level of communication between the track's constituents is staggering – a theme consistent throughout the whole release.
