Abul Mogard launches his own Soft Echoes imprint with a new LP of haunting ambience entitled Quiet Pieces. The Italian composer/producer found inspiration in a long forgotten gift: a stash of old opera and classical records inherited from a late relative. Playing these dusty relics at differing speeds reminded Mogard of snippets and projects of his own he too had left languishing, prompting him to combine elements of his own making with samples of those magic 78s. Running all these elements through his patented digital manipulation, the end result is music both uncanny and oddly comforting in equal measure.
