LA-based Leaving Records debuts South London producer Only Rays, who turns in a beautiful collection of experimental hip-hop, rich in organic samples and expression. The distorted piano variations of ‘Pianohop’ gets things underway, unfolding over an intermittent boom-clap combo, followed by ‘Ones And Twos And Mr Bleach’ – a loose, brainfeeder-esque excursion rife with eastern influence. ‘Kallimboo’ sets a more moving tone with its melodic xylophone arrangement whilst ‘Unexpectable Minute’ is more experimental, joining the dots between Aphex Twin and Flying Lotus.
