After their Long Weekend EP in 2020, James Holden and Wacław Zimpel return together for a trancelike full length effort. Having bonded over their shared predilection for global music traditions, the duo distill all that and more into fleets of staccato melodies, fluent arpeggios, and sparkling synthetic grains bouncing all over The Universe Will Take Care Of You. This debut album is a sweet confluence of sonic rivers, bountiful with instruments like the mesmerisingly trilling South Asian algoza flute on (aptly titled) ‘Incredible Bliss’, met with a ritualistic pulse of long unspooling synth threads, alongside “alto clarinet fractals” with sloshing keys and complex pools of swirling sound.
