Ignore the glinting caricature of Michael Jackson on the cover - this new EP from German techno group Terranova shows Xaver Naudascher, Fetisch Bergmann and Shapemod at their serious best. The opening title track was rightly used by Bergmann to kickstart his 2014 DJ Mix: with its stabbing 4/4 beat, swirling synths and stream-of-consciousness lyrics from Cath Coffrey it recalls Underworld at their darkest and most cryptic. It’s backed by ‘Headlock’, a friskier instrumental take, and the stoned ‘Tourette’ which pulsates and hisses like a dub techno party with the humour turned up. Worth getting if only for the strength of the beats, turn it up loud and your neighbours will think you’re hanging a hundred pictures.
