South Yorkshire techno kings The Black Dog here present the first of four EPs to honour the Steel City’s influence on UK electronic music. The trio have written three dance floor-targeted bangers built from samples recorded and road-tested around Sheffield, and the result is a kind of handsome Frankenstein’s monster: 4/4 retro analogue house on ‘Ism’, ragged industrial mayhem on ‘Dropforge Learning’ and a cheeky but sleek reprise of the lead track on ‘Too Many Isms’.
