Killekill Records brings together two Scottish heavyweights and the Punch Drunk / Blank Tapes affiliate Ralph Cumbers AKA Bass Clef for the desperately titled Trade My Ass For Drugs EP. Techno veteran Landstrumm flies solo first with the release’s title piece, drawing on a zigzag, repetitive synth pattern and retro-tinged melodies whereas his collaborative effort with Bass Clef materialises as ‘Ode To Passive Souls’ – a synth heavy, swaggering piece with big, bold drums. Finally we land on ‘Tetse’ from Doubleheart where spongy left-field, electro bass is the order of the day, complete with an arsenal of steel drum quarks, rave-inspired whistles and disco cowbells.
