Seppuku records present their second missive with a full length from Acharne which veers from lush dancefloor numbers to introverted ambience with a natural flair. The dancefloor power of ‘Room Without Walls’ owes much to the back to back impact of ‘Helsinki Trust’ and ‘Budget Toxicology’, which construct layers of evocative textures around a shuffling tech-house pulse, the former coming across more wistfully than the latter. The producer is, however, finest when concentrating instrumental numbers which eschew dancefloor etiquette, with opener ‘Tombs’ rivalling Grouper for distorted poignancy and ‘Southern Baptism’ closing proceedings with a crackly, fractured elegy.
