Rasul Gafaro arrives on the excellent Astro:Dynamics imprint under the alias Nenado with a release of jazz-inflected downtempo beats. Though many of the EP’s seven tracks clock in short and sweet, the producer displays a masterful combination of atmospheric field recordings, soulful piano lines and more conventional dance music elements which will undoubtedly appeal to fans of Mount Kimbie and Nicolas Jaar. ‘We Turn Into Planes’ plays off strange textured swells with digital fizzes, while ‘Aiz’ reigns similar elements onto a pulsing kick. The highlight, though, is ‘Bushido’, a wonderful mess of glitching pianos, tape scuzz and a squealing siren.
