While Benjy King may be better known as Hippos In Tanks’ songwriter Triad God, he’s changed styles and ditched the lyrics for this EP as Palmistry on Milan-based Presto. ‘Lil Gem’ opens with shrill brass synths that pulse and sway while King works in a soaring, gut-punching bass line, each note like a sack of sand hitting the ground. Ethereal choral effects add to the air of wonder that the young South Londoner conjures up, making this graceful but mystifying EP another string to his bow and a worthy debut for the Italian electronic powerhouse.
