Christopher Rau continues to carve out his own special little niche with another set of warm, eccentric house tracks for Hamburg’s Smallville Records. Low-key, Detroit-flavoured opener ‘Mehris Mood’ bumps thanks to a gorgeous Fender Rhodes sample, jazzy percussion and squiggly synth bass. ‘Friends’ starts off sleepily with warm keys wrapped in a sonic blanket of deep bass then opens up completely a few minutes in, stripping back flowery melody and adding rock-hard drums. On old-school gem ‘Cherry Jams’, Rau layers a dusty keyboard loop with break beats and some dialogue samples.
