The burgeoning Berceuse Heroique imprint release yet another brilliantly skewed techno single, with Ekman’s ‘Acid7’ backed by a remix from L.I.E.S. and the Trilogy Tapes staple Vereker. Ekman’s A-side is a brutal reduction of acid techno to its most deranged core elements. With nothing but a obscenely distorted kick drum and an acrobatic squelching acid line, it tows the line brilliantly between the crazy rave experiments of EVOL and more functional dance floor material, without ever settling into one or the other. Vereker’s remix renders the original a murky gloop, filtered beyond recognition and submerged under a layer of blunted 808 claps.
