Berlin-based DJ Stefan Goldmann’s latest twelve for his Macro label plays like a cross-section of what’s adorned him to his fans, and why he’s so good at filling floors at residence at the city’s Panorama Bar: storming 4/4 beats, gliding synths and just a shimmer of prog house experimentalism. Lead track ‘Minute Blaze’ combines an irresistible windscreen-wiper rhythm with zapping bass and wah-wah guitar; on the flipside, ‘Fat Tails’ maintains the energy with vocodered blips mixed into dub techno signatures, like R2-D2 visiting Chicago. Throughout all four tracks Goldmann ensures you don’t have to go the Panorama Bar to have your head spun and your feet possessed by the music.
