Lo-fi Danish funk thrashers WhoMadeWho have had their foot on the gas since 2005, with this their fifth album of synth-infused guitar attacks. It’s also their most accessible yet. ‘This Morning’ wraps an undulating bass line around disco keyboards and Barfod’s aching voice (“Times were changing faster than I ever understood”); ‘Hiding in Darkness’ lets its guitars strut to a swaggering 4/4 rhythm; ‘Heads Above’ is Hot Chip-inspired ecstatic organ pop. Expect this to do for the Danish no-wavers what ‘Neon Golden’ did for The Notwist.
