Old is the third album from the Detroit-born rapper Danny Brown, his second LP on Fools Gold Records. Moving away from the critically acclaimed 2011 LP XXX, Old looks to challenge the audience, pushing the listening to the edge with hard, emotionally-charged lyricism and raw production values. Rugged A-side track ‘The Return’ harks back to the Outkast classic ‘Return Of The Gangster’, updating the sound with sitar samples and a range of left-field electronic production. Ab-Soul joins in on ‘Way Up Here’, a rough cut with a difficult, squelching backdrop complimented by the tough, rapped vocals.
