Influential techno collective Underground Resistance ask the question of their struggling Detroit homeland with the self-released Has God Left This City EP. Opener ‘7601 12th Street’ opens with a vocal sample giving a frank assessment of Detroit’s current state before giving way to crisp percussion, a driving beat and lonely church bells. Next, ‘McGraw & Juncktion’ is a stark, driving piece that seeps motor city character whilst the desolate ‘Lodge & Clairmount’ carries a mid-tempo beat coupled with a delicate hi-hat for a deep hypnotic workout.
