French techno legend Garnier arrives on Modeselektor’s 50 Weapons imprint for an acid-tinged techno EP which will surely have electronic music fans watering at the mouth. On the A-side ‘M.I.L.F.’ sees the producer giving a sleek French twist to Underground Resistance-style dystopian techno, with a hammering pulse and ominous bass drone gradually giving rise to elegiac bleeps which become sustained strings. ‘D.S.K.’ applies the same Garnier precision to hammering claps and cowbells, but the real star is ‘H.E.’, which has a compelling rawness in its simple kick and Nightrider bassline.
