Prolific UK sound experimenter Kingbastard returns to Odd John Records with an exploratory EP, his second release for the label. The sounds here blur the line between music and error-laden noise, managing not only to bridge the gap between the extremes, but also sound quite human. Highlights include ‘0110011…’ which works like an aural photo mosaic, an array of percussive samples coalescing into a seemingly simple track you can nod your head to. The Alva Noto-esque title track is the most accessible of the bunch, and features a stuttering beat, buzz-saw bass and a serene, time-stretched sample that slowly comes into focus.
