Detroit house veteran Rick Wade returns with a trio of soulful steppers and a pair of smart remixes for UK label Fina Records. ‘Sweet Life’ is an intoxicating mix of conga-led percussion, hypnotic bass and a striking violin sample which, smartly, neither of the featured remixers alters too much. Londoner Mr. Beatnick tightens up the rhythm and adds spacey synths on his understated mix, while Fina label-head Simon Morell and Tom Taylor’s lush remix makes great use of added vocal samples and swirling filters. Two more first-rate Wade originals are included, the funky, French prog-sampling ‘The Chateau', and slick deep house cut ‘Jazz Militia’.
