Uwe Schmidt, aka Atom TM, continues his complete series of back catalogue reissues on his Audio Archive label, with ‘The Bitniks/Halograms’, originally released in 1994. The album’s 10 analogue club tracks still sound fresh today, and seem to chime with many of dance music’s contemporaries with ease. ‘Motion Tracking’ is a slow Krautrock burner with cosmic synths and shuffling ambient jack recalling Kassem Mosse, ‘Bitnik’ is a dreamy cousin of urgent DJ Stingray electro, while ‘Sign-O-Rama’ is dominated by the kind of tribal tom funk of which Bass Clef would be proud.
