‘Sulphur-Tarot-Garden’ collects three scores written for Derek Jarman films in the ‘70s from the brilliant Cyclobe outfit, which have never previously been released on vinyl. ‘Sulphur’ progresses from gorgeous throbbing analogue chords to a mass of writhing processed string sounds, occasionally cut through by swooping bleeps and pops. ‘Tarot’ similarly meshes synthetic splendour with gnarlier, dissonant elements, with distant flickers of whistling melodies submerged beneath sheets of machine noise. ‘Garden Of Luxor’ is the most straightforward of the three, though its reverberant synths take wayward turns which keep the listener on their toes.
