Bleep

The first single from the indie quintet’s fifth album, ‘Be Free’ shows Londoners Polar Bear continuing to experiment with samples and electronics, and sounding all the richer for it. Opening with an icy, hesitant techno beat, the track unveils one jazzy ace in the hole after another: cool trumpets, scurrying bass, drums gone crazy and a breathless but fist-swinging sax solo. The B-side offers a Latin-flavoured Gerry Read remix and ‘Be Free Be Free’, a more rhythmic take on the original with a double dose of kick drums.
