Bristol based producer Distro steps up for Roska Kicks & Snares with his floor-ready debut single. The bouncy house groove and tropical-tinged drums on ‘Thug Girl’ might be mistaken for something by label head Roska, that is, until the hefty bass line and rugged vocal sample kick in, followed by testy synths and crisp hats. Distro tones down the roughness a bit on ‘Deep Down’. Another diced sample, this one closer to a classic house vocal, punctuates the throbbing track which also features deep, wavering bass and a twinkling keyboard sample. The sequencing and drum work, as with the A-side, is deftly intricate.
