Jeff Buckley's album Grace stands as the only release from the hugely talented artist, who was tragically killed in 1997 while recording his second album by drowning in Tennessee's Wolf River. It's as bold a statement as a debut could be, full of sweeping chords, widescreen arrangements, contemplative and engaging lyrics and, above all, Buckley's extraordinary voice. It's a voice with the power to sound like it could hold stadiums full of people completely enthralled, but also comes across as incredibly fragile and intimate. His moving cover of Leonard Cohen's 'Hallelujah' is a match for the original, while the languidly beautiful 'Lover, You Should've Come Over' highlights Buckley's own considerable songwriting talents.
