Taking influence from the bulging house music scene at the time (in tandem with some of its associated substances), Scottish collective Primal Scream enlisted the production talents of Andrew Weatherall in order to move away from the straight indie rock sound of their earlier work. In 1991, the result was Screamadelica, a blissed-out mash-up of rock and danceable house-orientated rhythms that was awarded the inaugural Mercury Music Prize. Every beat, sample and guitar sound emits love, happiness and a sense of unity. Arguably the definitive album of the 90’s.
