Originally issued in 1981 by Phonodisk, Voodoo Funk makes a vital reissue of two suave Cameroonian funk numbers by Bayo Damazio. A-side ‘Listen To The Music’ is completely irresistible, with crisp percussion, tight bass-lines and vamping guitars providing the perfect backdrop for group vocals which convey the simple pleasure of boogieing. ‘Dizzy With Love’ lifts things even higher, with squealing brass, deft splashes of Fender Rhodes and a huge chorus complete with screaming backing vocals. One can only hope for further reissues from this brilliant group.
