Marcus Worgull and Danilo Plessow of Motor City Drum Ensemble unite as Vermont to produce an LP testament to their Krautrock roots for legendary imprint Kompakt. On lead track ‘Majestat’ the duo achieve a sense of awe-inspiring scale through the purest of elements: wide washes of strings, piercing synth attacks, and a lone ticking drum. ‘Katzenjammer’ recalls Quaristice-era Autechre in its gorgeous square-wave synths, while ‘Cocos’ drenches a slow-burning Kraut ballad with jazzy inflections, and ‘Ubersprung’ focusses bleeps and drum machines into material betraying the duo’s dancefloor origins.
