Torn Hawk's work fits into many different spaces: he has released psychedelic dance floor cuts for Ron Morelli's L.I.E.S. imprint, more jam-based work alongside Karen Gwyer on No Pain In Pop and his own Valcrond Video label has also impressed. This album for Not Not Fun fits comfortably within the label's smudged, dubbed-out bluesy rock aesthetic, with sprawling guitars carrying most tracks, as well as passages of tranquillised noisey dub and heavy, languid beats. A blistering album of colourful and experimental reconfigurations of LA's desert rock sound.
