Actress’ Werk Discs imprint combine with the estimable Ninja Tune imprint once more, this time putting forward an EP of bumping garage house from new signing Giganta. Though the EP’s five tracks certainly provide taut, functional house music drawing upon classic sounds, there is a level of flair which distinguishes the record far beyond run of the mill club tools. ‘Can’t Stop Playing’ and ‘Force’ channel the compressed energy of garage in their candy vocal snips and super-crisp percussion attacks, while ‘This Goes On’ provides a vital rough edge in its saturated kick belches.
