London's Cyan341 returns to Uncharted Audio for an EP of techno kicks and cerebral, dub depths. The clipped, marching percussion of opening track 'Coal Train' is offset in fine style by washes of deeply plunging, languid chords and a lulling synth-line. The effect is unsettling, but mesmerically so. 'Far From Home' swings with a similarly bittersweet, dub techno feel to it, while 'Nanakorobi Yaoki' pulses with a yearning drive that nods to the isolation and darkness of post-punk while still flowing with a crisp, dance floor gait. 'Space Kitty's Theme' is - unsurprisingly considering the title - the record's most playful moment, a snaking bass line encircled by glittering, '80s-esque disco sounds.
