Morgan Buckley and James Grünfeld are back with a fuller, more evocative, and further afield sound as Gombeen & Doygen following their 2021 record ‘D’Americana’ / ‘Auto-Lies’. ‘Prada’ is a swampy dubscape of intermittent muted bass guitar pulses, where digitised murmurs rise from the deep, and beats tick and click sparsely, icily across the field. ‘Sequel’ lights up with a fiercer, more forceful techno trudge and shuffle, as its gently trilling melodies freewheel into brilliant harmonic layers.
