As Echospace [Detroit] nears its 20th anniversary, the label’s first-ever release - and one of its most elusive - receives a full remaster. Vantage Isle finds Rod Modell and Stephen Hitchell mining endless permutations out of a single track, from the lax vibes of ‘DC Mix I’, where a present, punctuating thump meets woozy chords expanding into open space, to the murmuring bass and harmonic noise shots buoyed above a backdrop of crashing waves on the ‘Echospace Reshape’.

Dub and other effects naturally feature heavy here, but it's the sculpting of sound with these tools that set the template for thousands of dub techno records to come.

Gerard Hanson (aka Convextion) delivers his first-ever remix here, bringing even further variety to the downpour of murky, sloshing dub effects, with a stumbling rhythm drenched in staticky reverb and choral synths adding an ethereal texture.
